Furniture: Gabriella Crespi

Papers pile up for us over the course of the week and by far the one thing I look forward to most is the Weekend addition of the Journal. They have the best fashion/Lifestyle/Home/Food coverage. Today the WSJ Magazine: Fashion Issue arrived. I was excited to read an interesting design article: Cue the ’70s.

Most notably mentioned is celebrated Milanese furniture designer Gabriella Crespi. She is well regarded for her brass covered Z Desk as seen in Aerin Lauder’s dressing room below. These pictures have been around the block and then again but they are still heaven to look at.

I started to do some research on her and found many more pieces that deserve accolade.

Besides working in brass, Crespi is also known for her work with bamboo and rattan. I got the images below from 1st Dibs.

Lust: Bielecky Brothers

I’ve been obsessing over the cane, wicker and rattan pieces from Bielecky Brothers. Just another thing to add to my Lust list! So chic and natural. Billy Baldwin designed a collection of cane wrapped furniture for them in the ’50s. Here are some pieces I covet…and examples of how they look in a room. 1st dibs is another place to source them if you don’t want to order them direct.

This etagere is at David Duncan Antiques (NYC) on 1st Dibs. Priced at $2,800.

Also, speaking of rattan, I found this great reading lamp on ebay… auction ends in 2 days. Totally worth the current price of $149.
